What if the Story You’ve Always Been Told Isn’t the Whole Story?

What if the story you’re telling yourself…is holding you back from the life you’re meant to live?  What if this isn’t how the story ends…and it’s bigger than you think? Whether you’re looking for a speaker for your event, a writer for your publication, or a preacher who meets people where they really are—I’d love to help you tell the bigger story.

The Bigger Story of...

Faith and Calling

It took me years to embrace my call to ministry–because I had never seen someone like me actually do it. In my faith tradition, I was taught to draw careful lines around God. Without even realizing it, I started drawing those same lines around myself, too. Over time, I realized the picture I’d been given–of who could lead, who could preach, who could shape the narrative – didn’t match what was unfolding in my life. To follow that story, I had to learn to color outside the lines.

I’ve discovered that faith and spirituality are so much bigger than the tightly constructed boxes we’ve been handed. The bigger story invites us to loosen our grip on certainty and step forward with courage, one chapter at a time.

Healing and Resilience

I live with a rare bone condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) which causes my bones to break easily. I’ve broken more than 30 bones—and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s this: healing is never linear.

We long for clear paths and easy answers, especially when life breaks us open. But real healing rarely moves from point A to point B. It’s a winding, messy spiral of progress, setbacks, courage, and grace.

Living with OI has taught me that taking brave next steps isn’t about never falling. The bigger story is about how we learn to get back up again—growing stronger each time we do.

Pain and Courage

When I was a child, my parents couldn’t always tell if I was crying because I had broken a bone, or simply because I was scared. So, my dad came up with a ritual that has forever shaped who I am. He’d blow “magic bubbles” over whatever part of me was hurting.

Of course, these were just 25-cent bubbles from the convenience store, and they couldn’t heal broken bones. But somehow, they worked. They reminded me of my inner strength. They made me brave.

I’ve learned there’s no magic cure for pain. But if we can find safe space to breathe and ground ourselves, we can tap into something bigger than pain: courage. The bigger story is that courage doesn’t erase fear—it helps us take the next brave step forward.
